The government’s program of car scrappage deals ( Plan PIVE – basically 2 grand off a new car for trading in an old one) continues to result in increased new vehicle 
registration figures throughout the country, and if the improvement continues it could be argued that the government subsidies for new car purchases are perhaps no longer needed although any such a suggestion is unlikely to be met favourably by the motor trade.
The October increase was mirrored in all of Spain’s seventeen regions, although there was considerable variation between the 5% increase recorded in Castilla-La Mancha and the rises of over 40% in the Canaries and the Balearics.
In the Comunidad Valenciana the number of new vehicle registrations in October was 7,124, a rise of 26.15% compared to the same month last year, while the year-to-date total is 16.5% higher than on 31st October 2013 at 79,372.
The year-to-date improvements show less regional variance, although the Canaries once again lead the way with a rise of over 40% compared to 2013.
During October a total of 76,073 new vehicles were registered, a full 26% more than in the same month last year, and the year-to-date total of 716,646 represents a very healthy 18.1% increase on the first ten months of 2013.
