Culture, and especially music, will be the protagonists of the events that Dénia Town Hall has programmed for the celebration of October 9th. A long weekend in which it will be possible to enjoy performances for all audiences, although in this case, the complicated health situation makes it necessary to reduce the number of seats.
The first stop on this cultural journey of the October Bridge will be at the Casa de Cultura, on Thursday at 7 pm, where the opening of l’Espai Castejón will take place. A corner where you can enjoy a large part of the work of the renowned artist.
One hour later, in the Via street, other classics, although of music, will take the stage to sing the songs that for many are hymns. This is the veteran Valencian group Seguridad Social, led by José Manuel Casañ. The concert, as with the rest of the programme, will have a limited capacity, in this case to a maximum of 384 people.
The Social Security one will be the prelude to the big day, the one for all Valencians. The day of events will start in the capital of the Marina Alta also with music, as the Agrupació Artística Musical de Dénia will hold a travelling concert. This is an interesting alternative to avoid the crowds and possible contagion from Covid-19. The musical performance will start in Avinguda del Cid and continue in Carrer de la Santíssima Trinitat. There the musicians will perform several pieces and then follow the concert in Plaça Mariana Pineda, continue along Carrer Pere Eiximen d’en Carròs, Parc Chabás, Plaça de Jaume I, Avinguda de València and Carrer Loreto and the performance will end in the Glorieta del País Valencià.
In the afternoon, the children will be able to enjoy the performance of Los Mañas, which will take place in the Plaça del Consell at 5 pm. The capacity will also be limited to 176 people and tickets must be obtained in advance.
One hour later, in the Plaça de la Constitució, a special event will be held which this year will be dedicated to “the essential groups, to those who have collaborated generously to alleviate the crisis and in memory of the people who have left us due to the pandemic caused by the Covid-19”, indicated the local executive. For health reasons, only those with an official invitation will be able to attend the event.
There will also be sport on October 9th. At 6.30pm, at Trinquet el Rovellet, Rafa, Javi López and José will play against Momblach, Murcianet and Nicolás. And after this meeting, they will play Soro III and Jesus against Marc and Thomas II.
Those who prefer, can attend the concert of El Diluvi, which will take place at 7 pm in the street La Vía. Again, the performance will be limited to an audience of 384 people.
The most atypical October 9th of the last years will end in Denia with a pyrotechnic show that will be launched from Torrecremada’s esplanade at 8.30 p.m.
Theater and more concerts
The events will continue throughout the weekend. On Saturday 10th October the children’s performance ‘Boba Royal’ will take place in Plaça del Consell, also with a limited capacity of 176 people. Meanwhile, at 8:30 pm, ‘The Opera Locos’ will take place in Carrer la Vía. The morning of Sunday 11th October will be for children again, as the performance ‘Sabates en l’aire’ will be held at 11.30 am in Plaça del Consell. In the afternoon, at 6:30 pm in the same place, the music of the Colla del Cànter will be played. And in the evening, on La Vía street, there will be a tribute performance to Alejandro Sanz.
The last scheduled events are those of October 12. In the morning, the last of the children’s performances will be held, the ‘Oyún’ theatre at 12 noon in the Plaça del Consell. And at 8 pm in La Vía street, the Top Talent contest.
From the city council they remind that “for a perfect organization and to maintain the security of all the people”, the use of the mask will be obligatory in all the programmed shows, it will be necessary to accede to the enclosures limited for the performances by the enabled accesses; only it will be possible to be occupied the space assigned before the beginning of the performance; and in the infantile performances, the children will have to go accompanied of an adult.
