Xativa Town Hall will pay tribute on October 9th, the day of the Valencian Community, to all those people and organizations that helped in the city in the fight against the pandemic.
In this way, the traditional commemorative event at the door of the Aljama in the Sant Josep chapel will be replaced by a reduced event in the patio of the Casa de Cultura, which will only be accessible to people and recognised representatives.
“This year, for obvious reasons, we will not be able to hold the traditional institutional event, basically because we cannot control the capacity, which means we will have to change the usual dynamic,” said Mayor Roger Cerdà, who explained that “we will take advantage of the date to pay tribute to the brave men and women who, while most were confined to their homes, had to work so that no one would lack anything.
In this sense, the task of the health care providers will be recognized, as well as other sectors such as nursing homes, trade associations, small commercial establishments, workers in large food chains or law enforcement agencies.
Services such as cleaning, brigade, or the social welfare department will also be recognized. Furthermore, the event will also be used to pay tribute to more than a dozen of Xàtiva’s neighbours and collaborators who altruistically cooperated in such a complicated time as the first weeks of the pandemic.
“To all those individuals and groups who worked so that everyone could have their needs covered, this small tribute to thank them,” said Roger Cerdà.
The event will take place at 12 noon in the courtyard of the Casa de Cultura in Xàtiva, and access will be limited to participants in the tribute for health safety reasons. However, there are plans to broadcast the event on the municipal social networks.
