The City Council of Xirivella will put into circulation 600 gift cards of 50 euros to support and boost local commerce. Campaign 20×50′ is the slogan chosen for this initiative, which is 168,000 available for direct aid to micro-enterprises and freelancers affected by the alarm state. The council asks citizens to purchase products or services worth 20 euros or more in local shops. The prize for the first 600 people who obtain the validation of their invoices or purchase tickets will be a gift card worth 50 euros, which can be spent in the establishments that are members of the campaign.
The total amount allocated to the grant is 30,000 euros but the impact it generates on local commerce is much greater, as it encourages purchases in the municipality throughout the autumn. “We intend to strengthen the relationship and meeting points between customers and traders at a time of great difficulty for the productive and commercial fabric of the village, a strategic sector in Xirivella,” says the mayor Michel Montaner. “The proximity to the capital Valencia and the easy access to the large surfaces generates distance with the proximity businesses. We want to encourage the reunion with the shop or service of the neighborhood and invite the public to verify that local businesses can offer the same quality and price as any other establishment,” says the Councillor for Commerce, Isabel Torres.
In this first phase of the campaign, the Agency for the Promotion of Commercial Innovation of Xirivella (Afic) invites businesses based in the town to join. To this end, the terms and conditions of the call and an application form to participate in the initiative have been made available on the website xirivella.portaldelcomerciante.com. The establishments have until the 15th to formalize their registration. Once the list of participating shops has been completed and published, citizens will be invited to make purchases for a minimum of 20 euros in one or more of them. The tickets or invoices, which must have a minimum value of 5 euros and bear the stamp of the establishment, will be presented at the headquarters of the Afic (C/ Montalegre, 6) for validation before October 15.
The first 600 applications whose tickets or invoices have been validated by the municipal technical staff will receive a 50 euro gift card, which can be spent until 20 December in any of the participating shops and services. To obtain one of the gift cards, the applicant must be of legal age and be registered at least 6 months in Xirivella. Only one card per family unit will be granted and merchants participating in the campaign and their family members will not be able to benefit from the subsidy. Businesses that are not up to date with their tax obligations or are involved in a bankruptcy process will not be able to join the initiative. Bars and restaurants are excluded due to the type of activity.
